Sharkawy & Sarhan is pleased to announce the following promotions made this month:
Mohamed Nabil was promoted to a Senior Associate.
Nabil’s practice focuses on capital market, finance and M&A. His recent work included:
Advising BNP Paribas S.A. on all the aspects of the sale of its Egyptian banking subsidiary, BNP Paribas Egypt S.A.E., to Emirates NBD.
Advising Standard Chartered Bank (with Allen & Overy) on all matters related to a potential acquisition of an Egyptian bank including undertaking a legal due diligence, advising on mandatory purchase offer requirements, preparing all documentation required for obtaining the approval of the Central Bank of Egypt and Egyptian Financial Supervision Authority and liaising with various regulators.
He also was the co-author of “Regulatory Framework of Egypt’s Capital Market: A Room for Reform?” published in EBRD Journal Law in Transition. Finally, Mohamed Nabil was named as “Rising Star” in the 2013 IFLR edition.
Ahmad Farghal was promoted to a Senior Associate. Farghal’s practice includes corporate, finance, and oil & gas. His experience includes:
Advising (with Herbert Smith) HSBC Bank plc and HSBC Bank Egypt (as Mandated Lead Arrangers) in connection with an up to USD 50,000,000 Senior Secured Borrowing Base Facility to IPR group of companies (working in the field of oil & gas). The work included a full due diligence on the oil & gas concessions held by the borrowers.
Advising Etisalat Egypt on its potential bid for a license from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority to provide triple play services to closed compounds in Egypt. The work included preparing a study of the regulatory framework in Egypt concerning triple play specifically as well as telecommunication services in general.
Advising (with Gide Loyrette Nouel), Navisat on the creation of a new satellite-based air traffic management services system for the Middle East and Africa.
Dalia Farouk was promoted to a Senior Counsel. Dalia works at the pro bono department of Sharkawy & Sarhan. Her practice focuses on providing legal advice to Egyptian NGOs and foreign NGOs who are working to the benefit of the Egyptian community. Moreover, Dalia participated in co-authoring the Chapter for Egypt in “Climate Change Legal Liability” book published by Cambridge University Press.
