CBE issues regulations for Instant Payment Network (IPN)

On November 4th the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) issued regulations for Instant Payment Network (IPN) that allows for an instant remittance of digital payments made via bank accounts or even mobile wallets 24/7. The regulations require banks to obtain a license from the CBE for joining as a member of the IPN, and tackle banks’ liability, consumer rights, data localization, information security and procedures for obtaining the required licenses.
