Heba has over fifteen years of experience and her practice includes oil & gas, mineral resources, M&As, competition, insurance, intellectual property, and general commercial law.
Prior to joining Sharkawy & Sarhan in 2012, Heba gained experience advising multinational clients in the USA and UAE in relation to their investments in Egypt. Heba interned at Rouse & Co. International (UAE offices), where she advised clients on several intellectual property issues in the MENA region, including a global tech giant. Heba advised on telecommunication laws in the region during her tenure with a leading telecom advisory group in USA She also served as external legal consultant to The Egyptian Cabinet Information & Decision Support Centre, advising on several regulatory projects, with a focus on PPP and data protection.
In 2021, Heba was promoted to Partner after spending one year as a Managing Associate. Heba has led the Firmâs oil and gas, mineral resources and competition practice for several years. She was recognized in 2019 and 2020 by The Legal 500 as among the âNext Generation Partnersâ and a ârising starâ for her commercial, corporate, and M&A work. Also, she is recognized by “IFLR1000” as a “Rising Star Partner” in 2022 and 2023.

Hebaâs practice focuses on regulated sectors, especially in the oil and gas and mineral resources sectors. Her clients include IOCs, independent oil & gas companies and NOCs, as well as international mining companies.
Throughout her career Heba assisted on and advised on big-ticket transactions including the sale of SociĂ©tĂ© GĂ©nĂ©raleâs Egyptian Unit to QNB estimated at USD 2 billion, Centamin Plc in obtaining licenses for gold mining under EMRAâs 2020(1) bid round, Eniâs ieoc sale of contractor stakes in Shorouk Concession where the giant East Med Zohr field exists to BP, Rosneft and Mubadala respectively, Dragon Oil in the acquisition of BPâs Egyptian oil assets , and more recently advising Energean Plc on its acquisition of Egyptian oil and gas assets from Edison SpA.

Her work included conducting a due diligence exercise and producing a report in relation to the Egyptian assets, as well as advising on the regulatory procedures for transferring title of the asset.
Six foreign exporters of polypropylene (PP) (with Allen & Overy) in the safeguard investigations on PP imports to Egypt after the Egyptian authority has imposed provisional safeguard duties until completing its investigations. This was the first time the investigating authority issues a detailed report recommending the termination of a trade remedy investigation without the imposition of any definitive measures.
