S&S acted as Egyptian legal adviser to Mashreq Bank in respect of the financing granted to Telecom Egypt for the purpose of obtaining a license for acquiring 5MHz spectrum in the 1800 MHz band

We are pleased to announce that we acted as Egyptian legal adviser to Mashreq Bank in respect of the financing granted to Telecom Egypt for the purpose of obtaining a license for acquiring 5MHz spectrum in the 1800 MHz band.
This innovative transaction involved a USD 125 million loan from Mashreq Bank to Telecom Egypt, the first integrated telecom operator in Egypt. This additional spectrum will boost voice and data service quality, increase network coverage around the country, and support the fast-paced evolution of customer needs and aspirations.
The deal was led by Banking & Finance Partner, Ahmed Haggag closely supported by Associate Raghda ElQabbage. The Sharkawy & Sarhan team had the pleasure of working alongside friends from Norton Rose Fulbright on this significant project.
