Sharkawy & Sarhan advised Dell Technologies INC. on the Egyptian law aspects of the sale if its RSA security business unit

Sharkawy & Sarhan advised Dell Technologies Inc. on the Egyptian law aspects of the sale of its RSA Security Business unit, a cybersecurity and risk management organization, to a consortium led by Symphony Technology Group (STG), the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board and AlpInvest Partners.

Technology and Innovation Sector in Egypt

Egypt has been positioning itself as a technological hub, with the Egyptian government paving the road towards achieving such goal by passing laws regulating the technological sector including a new Data Protection Law and the Cybercrimes Law.

The Ministry of Communication and Technology’s indicators stipulate that investments in the capital of newly incorporated ICT companies amounted to EGP402.5billion (approximately USD 25.5 billion) in Q2 of 2020 despite the spread of the pandemic globally.
