Sharkawy & Sarhan is acted as Egyptian legal counsel to IFC – International Finance Corporation in the financing of the development of a 300MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) by Abydos Solar Power Company

Sharkawy & Sarhan is proud to have acted as Egyptian legal counsel to IFC – International Finance Corporation in the financing of the development of a 300MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) by Abydos Solar Power Company.

This transaction represents another significant step forward in Egypt’s renewable energy and storage landscape, building on the landmark Abydos Solar BOO project with the country’s first-ever utility-scale BESS.

It was a pleasure working with our friends at IFC – International Finance Corporation, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), FMO – Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, AMEA Power team led by Hussain Al Nowais, Norton Rose Fulbright who acted as Lenders’ international counsel, Clifford Chance and Baker McKenzie Cairo – Helmy, Hamza & Partners who acted as international and Egyptian legal counsel to AMEA Power.
