Suspension of work in courts & public prosecution

The Judicial branch has extended the suspension of its work, which initially started in mid-March, as follows:

♦ The administrative judiciary: the work is suspended until April 15;

♦ The civil courts (be it civil or criminal circuits): the work is suspended until April 16.  The following are excepted though:

  • A special circuit is formed to review the detentions renewal during the suspension period;
  • Sessions where a final judicial decision is expected;
  • All appeals; and
  • Cassation on misdemeanors.

♦ The public prosecutor offices and district offices: the end of working hours shall be 5 PM, and nightshifts shall be suspended.  The following is noted regarding the work structure:

  • Each office shall reduce its working force in alignment with the Prime Minister Decisions (probably, the circular refers to the Prime Minister Decision 719/2020). 
  • The affair of all traffic (motor vehicle) districts shall be suspended and transferred to the relevant public offices
