A well-rounded knowledge of the challenges of technological transformation
Our TMT team has extensive experience in all legal aspects under Egyptian law relating to data privacy, cybersecurity, cloud-based technologies, artificial intelligence, fintech and media law. Our experience covers the regulatory, licensing and contractual aspects of these issues and activities, in addition to an impressive track record in mergers and acquisitions in the technology sector.
The members of our TMT team have diverse backgrounds. They have solid grounding and training in general corporate work, general commercial, and in M&As, underpinned by a clear and focused understanding of the various laws, regulations and legal frameworks that are very particular to businesses working in the TMT sector. Our lawyers are techies at heart. Many of whom have been seconded to tech giants, which gives them an edge in appreciating the latest and ongoing changes in the sector as well as an understanding of the challenges faced by our clients at a grassroot level. They are encouraged and empowered to have a mindset of centered towards growth and development. With a curious mind, they want to understand the technological and operational concepts underpinning their clients’ businesses, which is necessary to allow them to interpret and apply the law, as well as extend old legal concepts to innovative and fast-paced new challenges, that may not have yet been addressed by the legislator.
Our team is also involved in shaping the laws and regulations relevant for this sector, with our most experienced Partners being present and active in government consultation roundtables, industry initiatives, and chamber committees – making sure new laws and regulations take into consideration the reality and challenges of our clients and the global and cross-border nature of enterprise in this modern age.
The team is supported by a dedicated unit of procedural lawyers, who have extensive experience with dealing with regulators, government relations and licensing practices.
